Lovely, Mark. I especially like the last, with the blue hues.

One of my favourite Australian insects. They have an incredible life cycle http://sci-s03.bacs.uq.edu.au/ins-info/lif.htm.

The sound of cicadas brings back lots of happy memories from my child hood. They seemed to be more abundant then….maybe my imagination. Is it also my imagination – I think I can hear them outside now. Thank you Mark.

Until now I have heard those bugs in Greece on my holiday, but now I can see them. Thank you, Mark.

Thanks Milan. It’s possible to hear and not see them, though if you stand still and stop trying to see there they are. Trying gets in the way of seeing.

      I will … probably. :-)

Lovely pictures! I always like to hear the sound of cicadas. Even when they are almost unbearably loud. There discarded cases are a fascinating find, too!

Thanks David. Yes, there is a certain clarity in hearing the enveloping sound of cicadas – no room for thinking.

    Great photos thank you,
They are a bit noisy but Cicadas always remind me of summer, sun, the sea.
I must admit that I have never ever seen them in this beautiful colors which is shown in your shots. Such a nice focus and natural colors, the phots are beautiful and thanks for sharing
