Not Dead Yet …
A pied magpie from Oz. It’s the male and it’s mating season.
He’ll be swooping on the unwary or unfamiliar soon enough.
Gotta protect his territory, right?

I had one march up our back steps. I’m glad I remember to shut the screen door.
Mine are quite friendly, but they never come inside. It’s the butcher-bird that invades the kitchen in search of food.
Walked beneath one in a tree yesterday then watched as it swooped a cyclist! Seems they pick their targets.
I think they have an instinctive belligerence during mating season and target anyone who conveys a level of anxiety towards them. Like a human predator reads ‘his’ prey.
