    Wow. Check out the colour combination on that first beetle. What a beauty. Wondering if male or female…and if to attract a mate or some other purpose. Couldn’t be camoflage as it is so eye catching.
    The other shots are also stupendous – showing the little lives going about their daily necessities.

      Strictly speaking it’s a bug, in that it has a long proboscis it uses to suck the sap and anything else – as in the last photo, where it regurgitates liquid to dissolve hardened deposits in order to take them up.

      The colours probably do what colours do, attract (mates) and repel predators or rivals. Maybe they just enjoy dressing up? :-)
