Must be such a thrill to actually find someone of the opposite sex at that size in this great big world. No wonder they make sure they are visible. Then…you just hope to high heavens that they like you!
I think they find each other easy enough, by an inner sense far superior to the outer. Then the work begins … but at least they don’t have any past getting in the way – the way of natural creatures.
Wow. Enjoyed the link and journey back through the collection of spiders. Saved a few pics for the desktop. Some of them sure reminded me of crabs (very distant relatives).
The amazing details.
They are indeed.

Thanks Mr Monkey. I have seen other less ornamented jumping spiders act the same, signalling to each other over distance in the leaf litter.

This is a crab spider – https://beingmark.com/2015/12/11/gypsy-spider/ – they move like one too.
It’s a lovely photo but I have to say this is the most adorable spider I’ve ever seen. It’s a cutie pie.
There are contenders – https://beingmark.com/category/spider/ – but they are a pleasure to observe, dancing around the lens.
Goggles!
All the better to see with …
Love Salticidaes, or Jumping Spiders…and yours is a wonderful photo Mark. Such a great little creature.
Yes, one of the great entertainers in the garden.
Thanks Dee.
