Nature's Place

Another Time

Green Head Ant, from recent times. Grooming himself in the warm sun.

Wasp on a cold afternoon, enjoying the pollen and nectar of late blooming flowers.

Honey bee, recovering from its swim on a cold winter’s day. Resilient little creatures.

When time stands still, and all that’s gone would live again, don’t look back. Life is the other way, and no way – the way of no.

I’m very fond of ants (all insects really but I do like ants). I have some very well behaved ones here as sortof pets. We’ve come to a pact – I provide them with a dob of honey in a bowl and a dribble of water in the one spot and they don’t rummage all over my house looking for same. I hate it when they get boiled in the electric jug just because they’re after a bit of water.

That’s the way to manage ants, for a while. My creatures have to know their place, not inside, but I don’t mind moving them when necessary.

In the house all creatures need managing. There are geckos, possum, snake and tree climbing rats here too at times.

Ant tea, yes … Are they thirsty though, maybe. There seems enough sources of water besides the kettle.

After looking into these astonishing pictures taken so
skillfully …and dilligently …it appears nature has equipped these insects with a big arsenal so well to fight and survive to live their life …

Indeed, perfectly fitted to their function and survival in a hostile world. Also that unique innocence of nature, innocent of guile and greed, pain and suffering. Thank god for nature.

      Thanks H…
