Lynx spider on the butterfly bush, not a care in the world as the giant cast his shadow.
Birds and other flying predators come and go hereabouts but Mr Lynx was oblivious.
Such a common natural boldness, a fearlessness of exposure to the higher elements.
Unknowingly perhaps … some people display such un-self-conscious courage.

I think it needs the spikes to locate movement. It can hurt itself with it.

I think it uses the spikes to trap and hold prey. I suggest it would only get hurt by them if it was being attacked by something bigger that could make it so.
If you step into a raging river chances are you’ll be swept away.
I’ve just made a note not to tread on one of those things!
I keep hoping to meet one here in NZ, but have not as yet. Yours is a beauty.
