Just the two left now, out of 20 or so. The cold and scarcity of food has killed off most of the tribe of Blue Banded Bees.

Such is living in a seasonal world, and they have prepared for it by laying the seed of next years marvellous little creatures.

There is intelligence behind such design and planning, it’s not just a cascade of effects of effects of effects.

Work your way back to now, through the sensation, and before any effect is space.

That’s gotta be significant … a sense of space.

What beauties, Mark! A sadness to see them go, I’m sure, even appreciating as you do the natural cycles of life and death.

They are Cate. Perhaps the sadness is for a wider loss of nature, reflected as our own simple nature still here but covered over by the complications of mind.

It makes me feel sad looking at them but I know it’s all part of a life cycle, just the way things are.

They remind me of the great big machine they are a tiny but integral part of, and that there’s an intelligence behind that, a mystery – how else could it be.

There’s got to be some mystery in this place …
