Killer
An assassin stalks the butterfly bush.
Killer of another kind.
All kinds of killers.
The natural way.

Thanks Asel.
Tremendeous legs!
All the better to grip you with.
What kind of bug is that? I don’t think I’ve ever seen it before.
That’s an assassin bug. It has a long proboscis tucked under along its body that it uses to stab its prey and suck the life out of it.
Oh! Thanks for telling me. I have heard of them before.
They seem to be common enough around the world, various kinds. Check these …
Oh ok. I have seen them on you blog then. The one in this Killer post just seemed like a totally new bug to me lol
What a fearsome visage! This one could return in a nightmare.
If one was another kind of creature small enough to become its prey, maybe.
Do insects have nightmares?
For their sake, I hope not, as they are a pretty low link on the overall food chain.
And kings and queens of their own world, fearless.
also what kind of macro lense are you using? thanks Mark amazing work
Basically the Oly 60 macro with achromat on it (DCR 150 mostly). I have various achromats and use them in various combinations with various lenses, at times.
beautiful shots mark, may i ask what camera setup you use?
and is this the same assassin from the assassin bug family ( kissing bug ) ?
Thanks Lee. Yes, it’s some kind of assassin bug.
For setup search ‘velcro’ on this page – https://beingmark.com/macro-illustrated/ – will take you to images and some explanation of what I use. The whole page is my take on macro, not a lot of techs.
Great images, Mark!😊
Thanks Tish.
Anytime, my friend!😊
