A kernel of corn with eyes and legs :-) Beautiful pictures. What do you mean, “Mother has gone missing” Mark?

M I A, Missing In Action. Mother Love, the last post here – https://beingmark.com/2021/05/25/mother-love/ – has gone missing from the only place she’s likely to be found in the garden. Succumbed to the attentions of the myna birds perhaps, or old age, or hunger, or …

So, time for the new. This little kernel of corn is a fraction the size of mother, much younger, and hungry by her behaviour – there’s not a lot to eat in the garden either. Survival in the garden is fraught … with challenges.

A very strange form this spider has.
I also watched it recently inmidst flowers of the same colour.

She will incubate many little ones in that strange form. And the longer she looks like a flower, the same colour anyway, she has a good chance of living long enough to fulfill her function and provide many small spiders to serve the garden, the nature.

          Thanks Heide.

It’s early morning here, after a mostly sleepless night – is my excuse.
          :-)
